30 Years of designing and building beautiful outdoor spaces for clients all across Ontario gives Lawrence the skill stack to create incredible spaces. In 1985 he left the automotive field to take a carpentry framing course at Sheridan College in Oakville. That led to a couple of years working for about 20 companies across Ontario doing everything from house framing, timber framing, cabinetmaking and concrete forming. He built a few of the first Subway Sandwich Stores in Ontario and did commercial finish work in Princess Margaret Hospital. This hands on experience gives him insights that are rare in the design field.
For the next 30 years Lawrence was designing and building unique outdoor woodwork under his own brand. 15′ high Tennis Court Fences with Curved Pergolas, Homes with Glass Roofs and Trim Carpentry projects that lasted up to a year in duration.
“Design follows function”, “Balance and Proportional Correctness is a priority” and “Outdoor Spaces should be a natural extension of the Home” are Lawrence’s design principles. Everything he designs follows these precepts. His designs always fit with the style of the home. His goal is to make the outdoor space the best room in the house!
Lawrence’s designs have been showcased in Canadian Living, Canadian House and Home, Southern and Coastal Living, Arts and Crafts Magazine and he was a contributing editor for Canadian Home Workshop. He was also lauded with a full page spread in The Toronto Star and also an article in the Hartford Courant that was syndicated nationwide about Pergolas. He was also seen building trelliswork on HGTV’s One Garden Two Looks and a few other video productions. About 50,000 websites link to his designs on-line which makes him a respected expert in exterior design.
